CMAT Exam: What Is It?

Common Management Admission Test is referred to as CMAT. The National Testing Agency (NTA) administers the CMAT entrance exam on behalf of the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). For admission to different management programs (MBA/PGDM) at B-schools all over India, CMAT is administered. The exam lasts three hours and is administered in an online setting. 100 questions including quantitative methods and data interpretation, logical thinking, language understanding, and general awareness make up the CMAT exam. CMAT results are accepted by several B-schools and management universities for admission to their PGDM and MBA programs.

The CMAT has 100 questions and takes three hours to complete. It is an objective test created to evaluate candidates' overall aptitude and knowledge. The CMAT does not have specific subsection time limitations, so it is up to the test-taker to establish a balance across the various sections.

Previous year papers of CMAT

Every year, the NTA formally releases the CMAT previous year papers. These assist you in becoming accustomed to the anticipated exam format, degree of difficulty, and sorts of questions. You can get the CMAT test questions from the prior years here.

CMAT PREVIOUS YEAR PAPER

Advantages of CMAT previous year papers

Exam question papers from past years are the best option if you wish to ace your CMAT. If you attempt the exam without understanding what is on it, it might be quite difficult. A helpful revision approach is to solve CMAT previous year papers. Here are some more advantages of answering CMAT questions from previous years:

1. Understanding of the syllabus:

The CMAT test syllabus is clearly understood by the candidate after solving previous years' question papers. The questions will aid a candidate in getting ready for the crucial CMAT exam topics for a specific subject. Consequently, a quick review of the CMAT concepts is possible.

2. Knowing the marking scheme is essential:

The CMAT question paper marking scheme should be well-known. The candidate will then be aware of which section is worth how many points. One can better prepare for an exam by understanding the weight of each component.

3. Learn from & Prevent Mistakes:

Examining past CMAT questions might assist candidates in recognizing frequent errors they may make in their final tests. If they attempt the question papers from prior years, they can reduce the likelihood of making those foolish errors in the actual CMAT exam.

4. Managing Time:

Successfully managing your time is essential to passing any admission exam. Even though having a strategy and a strong schedule are important for time management, solving test questions from prior years also improves time management abilities. A candidate will complete the final CMAT exam more quickly the more they practice.

5. Building Confidence:

The key to passing the CMAT is having a lot of confidence so that the applicant does not stray from their ultimate objective. The candidate can increase their confidence, which is essential for passing the entrance exam, by comprehending and practicing the questions from past years' test questions.

After completing the CMAT sample questions from prior years, the next step is to evaluate your performance across all parts. You must review the subjects you are weak in once you have identified your areas of strength and weakness. You must keep in mind that practicing alone won't be effective if you don't understand the various principles properly. Focus first on reviewing the fundamentals of each topic, and then practice as many tests as you can. We think that using these ideas will help you develop a clear strategy for the CMAT 2024 preparation plan.

You can test out our practice exams as well for better training. These practice exams mimic the exam format, anticipated questions, and level of difficulty, albeit they are not the real examinations.

Exam Pattern for CMAT: Analysis

Students should study for the CMAT exam and keep in mind the following things as they do so.

  • The CMAT is a three-hour computer-delivered exam with predetermined, uniform difficulty levels, question counts, and section lengths regardless of when and where the test is given.
  • Questions of a moderate to challenging level typically appear in the quantitative and data interpretation portion.
  • Geometry, mensuration, profit and loss, number systems, averages, probability, logarithms, and other significant subjects are discussed in this part. You need to practice frequently and have complete cognitive clarity to get an advantage in this part.
  • Reading English newspapers on a regular basis, in addition to books and periodicals, will help you expand your vocabulary and succeed on the CMAT's verbal abilities section. The portion is well-balanced and covers all the major subject areas, including reading comprehension, idioms, vocabulary, parajumbles, fill-in-the-blank questions, critical thinking, analogies, sentence rearrangement, and FIJs.
  • Questions on analytical reasoning, blood relations, input/output, alpha-numerical series, visual reasoning, true/false statements, deductive logic, data arrangement, family relations, linear arrangement, coding-decoding, direction-based questions, syllogisms, and data sufficiency can be found in the section on logic and analytical reasoning. Every year, this section's difficulty level changes, thus in order to solve this region, you must be able to apply all the concepts, advice, and strategies.
  • Current GK and Static GK are the two main divisions of the General Awareness segment. In the former, there are questions about the Indian Constitution, fiscal policy, international affairs, sports, taxes, and general science, while in the latter, there are questions about politics, awards, and art and culture.
  • Innovation and entrepreneurship will be a required component of the CMAT starting in 2022. This area calls for a solid understanding of recent events, emerging trends, and business-related current affairs.
  • The most significant lesson to learn from the CMAT pattern is that you must review the fundamentals of all the important areas and effectively manage your time throughout the exam.

CMAT Score

Within 7 to 10 days of the exam date, the CMAT result is often released in the afternoon. The score card is available to candidates on the NTA CMAT website.

Process of Admission to CMAT

Colleges and institutions shortlist students after the CMAT exam based on their CMAT scorecard results. The institute will schedule group discussions (GD) and personal interviews (PI) for those candidates who have been shortlisted. The institute's weighting of CMAT results, performance in the GD/PI rounds, and the availability of seats all factor towards the ultimate admission decision.
